Reporting to the Main Campus Assistant Director of Life Safety and Compliance, the Fire and Security Alarm Manager is responsible for managing the maintenance, testing, and repair of the fire alarms, security systems, card access systems, intercoms, access controls, egress locks, and mass notification systems for Temple University’s Main Campus, Ambler, Podiatry and Dental Building at the Campus. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the Fire Alarm systems are inspected, repaired, and certified annually in accordance with local and state life safety standards. The Fire and Security Alarm Manager will ensure the maintenance and operations of the fire alarm and security systems are completed accordingly for proper responsiveness. The incumbent will assist in planning building, equipment, and preventative maintenance programs, including deferred maintenance and equipment replacement schedules.

The Fire and Security Alarm Manager will act as Temple University's liaison with Federal, State, Local, and Insurance for fire and security systems. The incumbent will be responsible for communicating and educating Facilities Management Department personnel of new equipment and change of guidelines, policies, regulations, and/or standards with regards to fire alarm and security systems. The incumbent will oversee the installation of new fire and security systems compliant with the electrical and fire code.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and/or experience and 3 years of directly related job experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities

*Fire Alarm System support with project management to provide advice and receive direction. Interface with vendors and authorities having jurisdiction. Research new fire alarm products, test, and implement new technologies.

*Security System support with project management to provide advice and receive direction. Security system installation and programming. Interface with vendors and authorities having jurisdiction. Research new security system products, test, and implement new technologies. Provide technical support through phone, e-mail, and in person to clients.

*Helps maintain and install card access systems, intercoms, access controls, egress locks, and mass notification.

*Requires knowledge of computer applications (i.e., Microsoft windows operating system, word, excel, and power point). 

*Must maintain current driver’s license.

Preferred:

*NICET II certification in fire alarm, knowledge of NFPA standards a plus (including 70 and 72).

*Experience with commercial and residential systems. Security alarm installation and programming.

*Ability to follow and read schematics and wire diagrams.

*Troubleshooting skills and ability to learn on the job.
