The Department of Philosophy at Denison University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2023. They will complement a pluralistic department with a tradition of excellence both in undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts context and in active and productive scholarship. We are looking to diversify our faculty and curriculum without replicating current areas of departmental expertise. Candidates will teach a two-three course load across all levels of the curriculum and regularly at the introductory level within the department and the university writing program. They will have opportunities to develop new courses in their areas of interest and collaborate with other departments and programs at Denison. Candidates are required to have by start date a Ph.D. in Philosophy. (ABD will be considered as Instructor until Ph.D. is attained). Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level is a necessary condition for appointment. To achieve our mission as a liberal arts college, we continually strive to attract and hire candidates with diverse backgrounds, experiences and identities. Candidates from historically underrepresented groups in the profession are especially encouraged to apply.
