East Carolina University is a public doctoral/research university in Greenville, North Carolina, with an enrollment of nearly 29,000 students. It is the third largest university in North Carolina. ECU offers 84 bachelor’s degree programs, 71 master’s degree programs, 13 research doctoral degrees, 5 professional doctoral degrees, the Brody School of Medicine and School of Dental Medicine.

The School of Music, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication, has an enrollment of over 250 music majors and minors with over 50 faculty and staff. The School is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

Job Duties :

INTERNAL POSTING: Open only to applicants currently employed by East Carolina University.

The School of Music seeks a faculty member to serve as The Hardy Distinguished Professor. The duties associated with this position will include public performances or presentations and the promotion of arts education and cultural events across the region. More specific duties associated with this position are negotiable and will be determined by the holder in consultation with their Department Chair and The School of Music Director.

Minimum Education/Experience :

Only current full-time faculty members within East Carolina University are eligible. Terminal degree in Music with the earned rank of full Professor is required. Qualifying degrees must be conferred and received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

None

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

Doctorate in Music preferred.
