Part-Time Instructor of Esthetics and Cosmetology

Arkansas State University-Newport invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Esthetics and Cosmetology. This is a part-time faculty position on the Marked Tree Campus.The Adjunct Instructor reports to the Director of Cosmetology and has responsibility for coordination, oversight and assessment of the program. The adjunct instructor of Esthetics and Cosmetology is responsible for teaching courses appropriate to the two-year college level, including classroom and laboratory instruction. This role supports the college's mission of providing and ensuring quality educational programs for ASUN's various constituencies.

The successful candidate will be able to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:

•Prepare and deliver lectures to students on topics from all required textbooks

•Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.

•Evaluate and grade student's theory and practicum assignments.

•Maintains accessibility to students via email, phone, or personal conferences. Maintains course/student records such as student grades, attendance, and training activity details, in accordance with ADH regulations and submit records by established deadlines.

•Act as a course and program advisor to students who have interest in and are enrolled in the program.

•Participate in student organization as an advisor of Skills USA.

•Participates in college professional development activities.

•Posts and keeps office hours to facilitate interaction with students, the college community, and the public.

•Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have previous experience in cosmetology, esthetics, manicuring, recruitment, and previous teaching at the college level is preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills are required. A minimum of a Cosmetology Instructor License from the Arkansas Department of Health is required.Questions regarding the application process or requests for accommodation to complete the application process should be directed to Human Resources (870) 512-7874.

2004 - Gift received from Walton Family Foundation in the amount of $1 million, in honor of Lindley and Kaneaster Hodges Jr.

2004 - Ground broke on a Student Community Center.

2004 - The high voltage lineman technology program was created from a partnership between ASUN and the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas.

2005 - Named by Community College Week magazine as one of the top ten fastest-growing public two-year colleges.

2006 - Ten-year accreditation granted by Higher Learning Commission of North Central Accreditation.

2006 - First fully online degree program offered - Associate of Arts in Business.

2007 - ASUN assumed operational oversight for the technical centers in both Jonesboro and Marked Tree.

2009 - ASUN enrollment exceeds 2,000 students.

2012 - ASUN hosts "First Decade Celebration" in Newport, Marked Tree and Jonesboro.

2012 - $1 million gift received from Fowler Family in support of Hospitality Services program.

2013 - Dr. Sandra Massey named ASUN's second Chancellor.

2014 - ASUN becomes fifth largest community college in Arkansas in headcount enrollment.

2015 - 2500 STRONG - In Fall 2015 beat it's all-time enrollment record with 2,533 students.
