Nicolet College is a comprehensive two-year college located on the shores of Lake Julia in Wisconsin's beautiful Northwoods region. We seek a thoughtful, innovative, enthusiastic, and student-friendly professional to join our team.

This is a part-time faculty position beginning in the Spring semester of 2023. Under the supervision of the Dean and in collaboration with other faculty, staff, and the program advisory committee, the instructor will participate in the continuous improvement of the program, courses and the curriculum, and will teach and facilitate student learning in elective courses of the University Transfer Liberal Arts program. Responsibilities will be at the Rhinelander Campus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction

  • Develop, maintain, and deliver traditional art instruction in accordance with the mission, vision, and philosophy of Nicolet College.
  • Ability to teach ceramics, including wheel throwing, hand building, glazing, and other introductory and intermediate level methods and techniques - and other fine arts-related coursework.
  • Deliver instruction as assigned online and occasionally via distance technology and/or on the main campus or other outreach locations to a variety of class sizes during the day or evening, on weekends, and through distance learning.
  • Instructional Support

  • Work in conjunction with other art faculty to monitor/maintain college studio spaces and indoor and wood-fired kilns as well as the supplies within.
  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of new or modified programs/courses.
  • Meet and maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements as required by the Wisconsin Technical College System.
  • Maintain office hours and other methods of supporting student success.
  • Maintain accurate student records and submit required reports according to published deadlines.
  • Use technology, including multiple delivery methods, to enhance teaching and learning, as well as other aspects of work.
  • Professional Development and Service to the College

  • Develop and improve the University Transfer program and general education offerings by working collaboratively with other faculty and administrators through program reviews, curriculum and course development, and assessment of student learning.
  • Participate in performance appraisals and pursue professional development that is discipline-specific, enhances teaching and learning practice, and expands expertise in other academic fields of interest to the faculty member and the College.
  • Participate in department-, program-, and college-level activities, projects, and committees.
  • Maintain professional affiliations and certifications.
  • Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in visual arts, an M.F.A. OR Master’s Degree in a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Art.
  • Successful experience in fully online course delivery or substantive education/professional development in distance education pedagogy.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary setting.
  • Successful experience with alternative delivery methods including video conferencing and hybrid.
  • Successful experience with wood-fired kiln ceramics.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of effective online teaching practices.
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to teach ceramics- and other fine arts-related coursework.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and effectively teach students of varied ages, learning styles, academic levels, and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability and motivation to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships across the College and in the District.
  • Physical Demands:

    Moderate physical exertion required; such as periods of prolonged standing, bending, stretching, reaching, regular lifting of supplies/boxes/equipment, extensive periods of rapid hand movements, or similar physical activity.

    Compensation:

    Adjunct Instructors are extended a contract for each course instructed. Benefits are not included with this part-time position.
