The Department of Psychology at Central Washington University (Ellensburg, WA) is seeking an Assistant Professor in School Psychology for a tenure-track position. We are looking for candidates who have a strong commitment to teaching, research, and mentoring students in our School Psychology EdS program and our undergraduate psychology students. Specifically, we are searching for candidates who have a background and interest in child/adolescent counseling, as well as a focus on mental health and prevention/intervention in the schools, including crisis intervention. Faculty will integrate CWU’s commitment to diversity and create a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in school psychology or closely related field with eligibility for certification as a school psychologist by September 16, 2023. (ABD candidates may be considered; however, the terminal degree must be completed by the start date.) 
  • Willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and/or experience in the use of inclusive teaching methodologies and approaches that will engage and inspire students from all racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential.
  • Ability to engage and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in a research program that contributes to CWU’s commitment to the engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentoring/advising a multicultural population to expand and enhance their educational experience and career goals within and outside traditional classroom settings in accordance with the university philosophy supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and academic success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification and experience as a school psychologist.
  • Background and interest in child and adolescent counseling.
  • Background and interest in mental health prevention and intervention in the schools, including crisis intervention.
  • Interest in teaching graduate level school psychology and undergraduate level psychology courses. 
  • Interest in mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate research, in both on-campus and online
    (undergraduate) settings.
  • Experience working in a diverse environment and/or utilizing a variety of teaching methods designed for broad student success. Ability to incorporate multicultural perspectives and issues into curriculum and classroom conversations.
  • Research, teaching, or service that demonstrates an ability to contribute to CWU‘s commitment to inclusion and diversity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for students through teaching and/or mentoring activities.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience

Appointment: Full-Time, Tenure-Track, 9 Month Appointment. Additional Summer teaching may be available.
