Position Summary:

The Business Analyst is responsible for gathering, validating and translating business process requirements into design and development specifications while providing project management. This includes review, modification and recommendation of database/system application requirements, and reporting/analysis. Utilizing knowledge of business structures, direction/strategy, and development practices, the Business Analyst will assist and provide training to departments across the campus community to enhance the use of their specific Ellucian Colleague modules and Ellucian CRM applications, maintaining the confidentiality of information and data at all times.

Description of Key Responsibilities:

Business Process Coordination (across campus community):
1. In a hands-on role, manage projects which will enhance delivery of services to employees and the College community. Identify opportunities and lead initiatives for process improvement to automate/streamline processes and functions.

2. Identify, develop, implement and maintain CRM technology solutions and its integration with ERP Colleague system, including the creation of workflows, dashboards and reports.


3. Design, test, implement and document systems and procedures as required via the ITS ticketing system or as directed by the Administrative Systems Manager.

4. Establish and implement audit procedures and perform ongoing analysis to ensure data integrity, accuracy and security.

5. Assist in the development and enhancement of departmental process documentation.

6. Create and maintain reports from Ellucian Colleague (using Entrinsik Informer, Ellucian CROA, or other external reporting tools) in order to assist all staff members and others in the College with their data needs. Develop complex queries and reports integrating multiple sources of data.

7. Prepare correspondence, technical reports, status reports and other documentation regarding information systems programs and activities.

8. Provide end-user training on the use of the Ellucian Colleague modules and CRM applications as assigned.

9. Assist staff in utilizing technology and collaborate with other staff members to train others on basic reporting issues, current systems, and the introduction of new features or system upgrades.

10. Maintain knowledge of Ellucian Colleague and CRM system features and capabilities by participating in listservs, attending conferences and/or attending training sponsored by the system vendor.

11. Actively participate in the College’s Colleague-related committees to ensure consistency and accuracy of core data.

12. Other job related duties as appropriately assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Advanced knowledge of database structures and experience as an information technology “power-user”
2. Basic understanding of business processes within an organization, such as human resources, accounting, accounts payable/receivable, etc.
3. Familiarity with relational database systems and structured query language.

4. Advanced Excel and reporting technical skills.

5. Strong verbal and written English language communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to convey computing concepts effectively to non-technical users.

6. Strong initiative and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team with excellent customer service skills.

7. Excellent project management and systems analysis skills. Ability to multitask and work with a large number of individuals concurrently.

8. Well organized, detail oriented, flexible and able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

9. Active interest in continuous professional development and skill enhancement.

10. Accomplished problem-solving skills, trouble-shooting skills and detail orientation.

11. Ability to assimilate new information and techniques quickly.

12. Ability to be innovative, resourceful, logical, enjoy streamlining and improving processes and be motivated to make a difference in the operations of the College.

13. Ability to review and prioritize technology projects, integrations, upgrades, enhancement requests and reports in a timely and efficient manner.

14. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students, and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

The Business Analyst must have the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies. They must be able to do topical research, make inquiries, prepare reports, make recommendations and implement changes in processes.This is a hands-on position and an integral member of a small staff, operating in an environment where cooperation and teamwork are the rule. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.Much of the information dealt with by this individual is of a personal and confidential nature. The ability to exercise discretion in all matters and to adhere precisely to legally required constraints and to specific College policies regarding release of information is essential.

Education/Training:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business systems, management information systems or a related field.

Experience:

Relevant knowledge/experience with enterprise applications (Ellucian Colleague strongly preferred). Experience working in higher education preferred.
