The Department of Earth Sciences at Dartmouth invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the general area of environmental geochemistry. Specializations might include, but are not limited to: mineralogy, low-temperature (bio)geochemistry, and isotope geochemistry. We especially welcome applicants whose research relates to climate change solutions. Relevant (bio)geochemical processes of focus may include, but are not limited to: those that affect elemental cycles, carbon dynamics, water quality, mineral resources, (bio)remediation, and energy solutions. We are particularly interested in applicants who combine a focus on understanding fundamental processes with a state-of-the- art laboratory, modeling, and/or field research program that provides synergy with existing research activities at Dartmouth, including in the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society and the Thayer School of Engineering. Please note that tenure-track positions are also open in Geography and Environmental Studies.

The person in this position will continue Dartmouth's strong traditions in graduate and undergraduate research and teaching.  Teaching responsibilities consist of three courses spread over four ten-week terms. To create an atmosphere supportive of research, Dartmouth offers faculty members grants for research-related expenses, a quarter of sabbatical leave for each three academic years in residence, and flexible scheduling of teaching responsibilities. The Department of Earth Sciences is home to 14 faculty members in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and enjoys excellent graduate (Ph.D. and M.S.) and undergraduate programs. We  are especially interested in applicants who have a demonstrated ability to contribute to Dartmouth's diversity initiatives in STEM research, such as the Women in Science ProgramE. E. Qualifications:

Applicants should have a PhD in Earth Sciences, Geology, or a closely related field, or be ABD with degree received before the start of the appointment. Effective classroom teaching is essential for this position.
