The Department of Sociology at Dartmouth College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment s Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2023. We seek scholars who have teaching and research expertise in race and ethnicity, broadly construed. Sociology at Dartmouth is a vibrant intellectual community with scholars spanning four broad research areas: health, political and economic sociology, race and ethnicity, and social psychology. Dartmouth combines the best qualities of a liberal arts teaching environment with excellent support for research. These goals are facilitated by the school’s resource-rich research environment as well as the quarter system, which allows the four course annual classroom teaching load to be covered in two ten-week terms with a third term in residence for research and other departmental obligations and a fourth term off. Dartmouth also boasts a vibrant interdisciplinary community of scholars studying race and related areas, including the program in African and African American Studies and the Consortium of Studies in Race, Migration, and Sexuality.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely related field before the appointment begins.
