Position Summary:The Information Processing Assistant is an integral part of the data processing unit in the Office of Admission and Financial Aid. The Information Processing Assistant is responsible for the data entry, data integrity, and the timely processing of every component to an application submitted by every applicant for admission. The information Processing Assistant is responsible for an equal portion of the applicant processing responsibilities in comparison to other Information Processing Assistants in the department.
The Information Processing Assistant is responsible for providing meticulous accuracy in data entry, as errors in data result in errors in decision-making for admission decisions, and the potential elimination of prospective students. Attention to detail is paramount.
The Information Processing Assistant remains current on technological developments that occur within the office, and the industry, that are designed to foster data processing efficiency gains, automation solutions, and data integrity management. Ideas and suggestions the Information Processing Assistant for ways to improve the data processing environment at UNC Asheville are encouraged and needed, because the Information Processing Assistant positions have a direct applicability that few others can replicate.
The Information Processing Assistant position must be able to adapt with the resulting flow of the application cycle, where the potential for notable application gains or reductions can influence work volume. In all cases, a commitment to timely processing and a high-degree of accuracy never erode, but the need to discover solutions that can accelerate the production and expedite the processing of files for review are always prevailing.
Wherever possible, and as time permits against the application cycle for prospective students, data entry and support may be required to assist the processing of financial aid data. Those instances will require additional and adequate training, but the Information Processing Assistant position serves as a back-up for data-entry needs for financial aid.

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills:High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:The preferred candidate will have experience with Technolutions Slate CRM as well as Ellucian Banner.
Work Schedule and Hours:Typical office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some extended work hours may be required during peak volume periods.
