The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department is one of the top 10 suppliers of ECE talent at the BS level in the US, and ranks in the top ECE Departments in total annual research expenditures (ASEE). The department is located in state-of-the-art facilities on NC State’s Centennial Campus.

Essential Job Duties:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking to fill multiple tenure-track faculty positions beginning in August 2023 as part of the NC State’s strategic engineering expansion. It is anticipated that hiring will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, but candidates at all levels will be considered.

The department seeks outstanding candidates in all areas of electrical and computer engineering. Areas of particular interest include edge computing and sensors; autonomous systems and controls; computer architecture; advanced semiconductor technologies, including but not limited to electronics, photonics, wide/ultra-wide bandgap materials and devices, organics and magnetics, and heterogeneous integration; machine learning and artificial intelligence; metamaterials and devices; very large scale integrated circuits including application specific integrated circuits; next generation communications and networking systems; cyber-physical power systems, power electronics packaging and electric machines & drives; and quantum engineering and computing. The department has also identified key strategic application areas for these technologies such as agriculture, health, energy, and security.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent in electrical or computer engineering or a related discipline at the time of appointment.
• Candidates must have demonstrated the potential to build a strong research program and an excellent teaching record.

• Candidate must have a strong commitment to academic and research excellence, and an outstanding research record commensurate with the expectations of a major research university.
• Candidate must have demonstrated experience engaging with diversity through activities such as fostering an inclusive environment, working with students from diverse backgrounds, or incorporating diverse perspectives in research.
