Organizational Unit Overview:

It is the mission of the Department of Pediatrics, East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, to provide exemplary medical education/training of physicians in pediatric medicine at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, it is the mission of the department to provide model comprehensive primary and consultative subspecialty care to the children of eastern North Carolina, to advance scientific knowledge through basic and clinical research, and to provide continuing medical education opportunities for physicians in the region.

Job Duties :

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 50-bed Level IV facility at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC provides state-of-the-art care to approximately 1000 infants each year from the 29 counties of eastern North Carolina. This unit is the training ground for residents in Pediatrics, Medicine-Pediatrics, and Family Medicine, and for Neonatal-Perinatal fellows. The unit is staffed by Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants 24/7.

The Division of Neonatology, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, is seeking an individual with a commitment to high quality patient care and teaching, with interests in clinical research. Current research activities include several industry studies and clinical trials. This unit also works collaboratively with other major NC NICUs as part of the Neonatal Research Network. The Division enjoys substantial grant support for its activities.

Minimum Education/Experience :

Must have a terminal MD or DO degree from an appropriately accredited institution.

Completion of three years of subspecialty training in an accredited program of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and be board certified in Pediatrics and board certified or board eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal medicine.

Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in North Carolina.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :
