College/Department Information
The College of Nursing has excellent opportunities for Licensed Practical Nurses to be part of the nursing team at East Central Regional Hospital in Augusta, GA. The innovative partnership that has been developed between the East Central Regional Hospital and Augusta University bringing licensed practical nurses, professional registered nurses, and advanced practice nurses, together with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and direct care staff together as part of an inter-professional, psychiatric/mental health team. This is the first partnership between a state psychiatric hospital and a comprehensive research university and academic health center in Georgia the licensed practical nurse will assist in providing high quality care while using an interdisciplinary approach.

East Central Regional Hospital is a state operated psychiatric facility with two campuses. The Augusta campus is a psychiatric hospital that provides care to people with severe and persistent mental illness. The Augusta campus also provides Forensic services. The Gracewood campus is an ICF/MR and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) that provides care and services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. ECRH will provide you with the opportunity to work in a variety of areas including crisis evaluation, acute and long-term mental health, forensic services, and intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and provides assigned patient care within the general policies, philosophy and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the hospital. Demonstrates knowledge and skills related to special treatment procedures for precautions, seclusions, restraints, elopements, close observations and patient/environment searches. Under the direction of a professional registered nurse, provides assigned nursing services, monitors the physical and mental health and safety of psychiatric patients and/or individuals with developmental disabilities, communicates with other health care practitioners regarding health status, collaborates with other staff regarding health care issues, and provides a variety of related services to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
Works as a member of the health care team to meet overall needs of the individuals by implementing the plan of care developed by the interdisciplinary treatment team. Provides clinical oversight and direction to direct care staff related to health care needs. Assures that medications and treatment supplies are current and properly ordered, stored and accounted for. Administers medications and completes treatment procedures according to current nursing standards. Maintains accurate medical records regarding medications, treatment, symptoms and conditions including anticipated and adverse response to medications and/or treatments. Observes individuals, charts and reports changes in conditions, including anticipated and any adverse response to medications and/or treatments. Conducts purposeful patient rounds in accordance with unit requirements and accurately documents patient observations. Modifies milieu according to developmental needs of the patients in collaboration with Treatment Team and professional registered nurse. Takes necessary action to ensure safety and positive outcomes. Measures and records vital signs as needed. Reports results as indicated by orders or based on findings. Provides health care and treatments, such as treating decubitus, dressing wounds, giving enemas, performing catheterizations, assisting with measuring and monitoring weights, and administering tube feedings. Assists individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including positioning, transferring, and ambulation, as needed. Records and reports food and fluid intake and output when indicated. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited LPN Program; Current, Active licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia; Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience as an LPN in a long-term care or inpatient psychiatric setting.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Ability to implement proper medication administration techniques and procedures. Ability to assist with health-related aspects of care. Ability to communicate information effectively to members of the health care team (oral, written, electronic). Ability to perform routine nursing procedures. Ability to maintain accurate medical records of symptoms, conditions, medications, treatments and individual's responses.

Certifications/License
Current, Active Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing and current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/Evenings/Nights; Rotating Weekends
Pay Grade: 12
Salary: $24.00-$28.00/ hourly.
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
