Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Full-time Instructor/Assistant Professor position to begin August 2023.

This position will teach, advise, and supervise students majoring and minoring in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Education and is responsible for all operational aspects of the FCS Education program. The FCS Assistant Professor is key to leading efforts to maintain the FCS presence at Murray State University and represent the program at the state and national level. The Assistant Professor will work closely with the CTE Director to maintain relevant CTE curricular content and will report directly to the Department Chair.

Minimum Education Requirements:

Master’s degree in Family Consumer Sciences or related field is required. A PhD or EdD in Family Consumer Sciences or related field is highly preferred. ABDs with a documented plan of completion by appointment date will be considered.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:

Teaching experience in secondary and/or postsecondary Family Consumer Sciences or a related Family Consumer Sciences pathway required.

Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences is preferred. Experience teaching and/or administration in middle and/or high school FCS programs. Experience in teaching blended or online classes as well as face-to-face classes. A commitment to working in an interdisciplinary teaching and learning environment. Background in and willingness to assume a leadership role at the local, state, and/or national/international levels. Record of seeking external funding and participating in research and school-based projects.

Note: If the successful candidate is master’s prepared, the position will be filled as a non-tenure track, instructor. If the successful candidate holds a terminal degree, the position will be filled as a tenure-track, assistant professor.
