Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati Communication Sciences and Disorders is searching for a faculty member who will contribute to the department’s clinical teaching, service, and research missions. This is a 12-month per year, full-time position with rank commensurate with education and experience.

Essential Functions

This position is primarily responsible for:

  • Clinical supervision, teaching and service to the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and College of Allied Health Sciences.
  • Primary responsibilities include clinical supervision in predominantly in the Department’s onsite clinic, assigning speech-language pathology students to school based (or similar) clinical settings in the Cincinnati area.
  • Ideally, this faculty member will be appointed to the clinic director of the Department’s clinic. The onsite Speech and Hearing Clinic has an education mission and enjoys approximately 2,500 patient appointments per year.
  • Oversee student clinical placements for first-year speech-language pathology students, which are primarily in the onsite clinic.

Teaching and service responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Course development, primary instruction of didactic courses in both face-to-face and online delivery modalities.
  • Participation in student recruitment, retention, and admissions activities.
  • Participation in program committee work including program evaluation, accreditation tasks, and other activities as assigned by Department Head.
  • While clinical supervision in speech-language pathology is central to this position, instruction, service, and scholarship activities are also required consistent with the missions and faculty evaluative criteria of the University, College, and Department.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
  • Current certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Eligibility for Ohio licensure to practice as a speech-language pathologist such that licensure will be valid by the position start date.
  • Three years’ experience in providing speech-language pathology services.
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, counseling, conflict management, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Interest and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to assist with tasks assigned by Department Chair.
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Current Ohio licensure to practice as a speech-language pathologist.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with electronic health records as well as procedure and diagnostic coding.
  • Experience in clinic management/administration.
  • Experience with learning management systems.
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
  • Demonstrated student mentorship experience.
