Job Summary:

Recruit and advise Criminal Justice Program and TSA Associate Program students to promote personal growth, academic and career planning and decision making. Assist with the beginning to end onboarding of criminal justice students.

Essential Functions:

Advise students in all phases of academic and career planning, including program and course information, scheduling, registration, transfer requirements, articulations with other educational institutions, academic progress and graduation requirements. Advise, coordinate, and refer students with specific learning needs regarding the identification and utilization of support services to assist in student success. Assist students in identifying goals and developing career pathways in order to achieve successful transition to post-secondary education.
Work closely with the admissions department, program development staff, and faculty program chairs to conduct student recruitment, orientation, and retention activities for traditional and non-traditional students including visiting high schools, transfer institutions, and business/industry. Work closely with transfer institutions in collaboration with Academic Dean to achieve successful articulation agreements. Assist in the review of student materials to support alternative credit decisions.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to prepare and deliver public presentations.Ability to plan, organize, and manage time.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.Knowledge of current software applications.

Desired Qualifications:

Two years of advising, recruitment, promotions, admissions or related experience in an educational setting (Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, Academic Advising, or related field can substitute for one year of experience).
Knowledge of DMACC’s educational and student services procedures and practices.
Work experiences with an educational institution.

Work Schedule:

16 – 20 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend for student onboarding.
