Laboratory Supervisor in the Department of Chemistry

Illinois Wesleyan University seeks a Laboratory supervisor in the Department of Chemistry.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent experience in chemistry or a closely related field.

Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of this position revolve around teaching 4-5 undergraduate organic, general chemistry, and introductory chemistry labs each semester, coordinate the delivery of the laboratories (i.e. update manuals, conduct pre-lab lectures, etc.) and needs of the laboratories with the stockroom manager, hiring and supervising all the undergraduate teaching assistants and graders, and developing and updating laboratory manuals annually. Undergraduate teaching assistants are available to assist in teaching laboratory sections and grading. Applicants will also be encouraged to participate in scholarly activities, provide academic advising to students, and participate in department, college, and university service. The applicant must have demonstrable skills in oral and written communications. In addition, he or she must have observable dedication to undergraduate education; enthusiasm for professional engagement with students in and out of the classroom; and ability to work in teams in a collegial environment.
