Columbus State University

President

The Board of Regents (BOR) of the University System of Georgia (USG) and the Presidential Search Committee invite nominations and applications for the position of President of Columbus State University (CSU). This is an excellent opportunity for an engaging, and dynamic leader who is inspired by CSU’s emphasis on excellence in lifelong learning, community engagement, cultural enrichment, teaching and research, and service to others.

Located just 100 miles southwest of Atlanta, CSU enrolls more than 7,000 students from the Southeast, across the nation, and around the world. Columbus is a vibrant and diverse community offering a low cost of living, world-class museums, celebrated arts and culture, and amazing recreational opportunities. Led by the 19-member BOR, the USG is comprised of 26 higher education institutions including four research universities, four comprehensive universities, nine state universities, and nine state colleges.

With two campuses, exceptional facilities, ideal class sizes, and unique field experiences, CSU students have room to create. CSU provides students with academic enrichment opportunities beyond the classroom through the Bo Bartlett Center, the Carson McCullers Center, the Coca-Cola Space Center, and Oxbow Meadows. These learning laboratories offer student opportunities for research, engagement, and community projects. At CSU, every faculty and staff member are part of the educational process, actively mentoring students and championing each new step in the journey.

The university seeks a business-minded, servant leader who is committed to providing students with an exceptional education that is accessible, affordable, and creative to the core. The ideal candidate will bring the ability to articulate a strong vision; have experience building teams; work collaboratively with community partners and stakeholders; and offer a demonstrated commitment to fostering, recognizing, and rewarding success and contributions.

CSU’s next president will be a highly visible, transparent, and visionary leader, engaged listener, effective communicator, and exceptional relationship builder. The successful individual will have experience managing the financial and budgetary operations of a complex enterprise, and the creative thinking, problem solving, and entrepreneurial skills to move the institution forward. A strong desire and ability to foster relationships and build partnerships with the community and industry is a must. Individuals with exemplary leadership experience in education, business, industry, government, the military or other sectors are encouraged to apply and will be given full consideration.

Confidential inquiries, nominations, and applications are invited. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled. For fullest consideration, application materials should be received no later than January 12, 2023. Candidates should provide a resume or curriculum vitae and a letter of application. Nominations and application materials should be sent electronically via email to CSU’S search consultants Ann Yates and Rob Franklin at CSUPresident@zrgpartners.com. Please visit CSU’s presidential web page for more information about the search.
