We are seeking a full-time Coordinator II Academic Affairs Student Support AEL to assist in program fulfillment for WIOA requirements including performance targets, preparation and transition to post-secondary institutions, preparation and transition to the workforce, and collaboration in building career pathways for students. This position will be responsible for outreach efforts to include the development of community partners, campus faculty and recruitment of participants into adult education Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs. This position will also support students experiencing significant barriers by making appropriate referrals. The Support Coordinator will work with AEL students to reinforce job skills, introduce career planning, and transition them to the next step in their educational/career plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Enter community partnerships that support that support AEL students in the attainment of services that lead to employment and/or post-secondary training. Work with these partners to recruit students for AEL programming. Also work cooperatively with other professionals and groups to prepare appropriate students for transition to post-secondary education or workforce training. Be willing and prepared to teach /substitute in an Adult Education classroom (HSE or ESL). With this position, there is an expectation of some evening work hours.

Integrate the intake and case management process for students identified as needing retention services, transition services, or specialized training/education services. Maintain a case notes database, frequently documenting services and referrals carefully.

Maintain database and/or print material of local and regional resources for social service assistance as well as higher education programs. Have materials prepared to refer students to all types of skill training programs and degree bearing institutions. Be Prepared to move students through the process of agency referral and self-advocacy.

Find, develop and participate in outreach activities to include recruitment fairs, speaking engagements, special events, and community collaborations/partnerships to educate and recruit participants into SCC programs.

Meet with AEL students regularly to develop goal plans that could include employment services or transition to college. Be able to assess and interpret career skills assessments. Be able to explain workforce language to students. Plan direct workforce activities for appropriate students.

Respond to official communications from AEL staff members within 24 hours during the scheduled program year. Notify supervisor regarding circumstances in which this is not possible.

Establish formal linkages to the college by serving as a dedicated transition counselor and assisting with the college admission process including financial aid document preparation (scholarships and FAFSA). Act as a liaison between adult education students and college staff and processes.

Accept referrals from classroom teachers and staff regarding students with barriers to success. Contact and meet with both ELA and HSE students in need of assistance. Work with these students individually to support them in meeting post-secondary, career, or retention goals in the program. Be prepared to make Title IX referrals if necessary.

Manage all aspects of Integrated Education and Training programs. This will include recruitment, verification of eligibility, preparation of class lists for instructors, and communication with potential students.

Participate in professional development activities to maintain Missouri AEL certification; attend program and department (HSE/ELA) staff meetings, office staff meetings and attend annual Student Recognition Ceremony.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university. AEL certification, or a willingness to obtain AEL certification, is required. Previous social work or case management experience is preferred. Some knowledge of college enrollment processes, college environment, workforce development, and/or career advising experience needed. Intermediate computer skills are required, including MS word, PowerPoint, and the ability to use and assist students in the use of web-based programming.
