Organizational Unit Overview:

The Department of Addictions and Rehabilitation Studies (DARS) at East Carolina University began in 1967 with a degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. The first students graduated in 1969. Currently, the department has the following degree programs: B.S. in Rehabilitation Services, M.S. in Clinical Counseling with an emphasis in addictions, M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling, and Ph.D. in Counselor Preparation and Research; both masters programs and the doctoral program are CACREP accredited. DARS also supports a faculty-directed, student operated counseling clinic called the Navigate Counseling Clinic. The Navigate Counseling Clinic and funded research projects provide mental health, addiction, rehabilitation, and employment counseling services to individuals in eastern NC.

Job Duties :

The Project Coordinator for Engage Eastern NC: Minority AIDS Initiative is responsible for overseeing day-to-day project operations, providing direct clinical services. The Project Coordinator will also supervise outreach staff, manage project data collection and entry activities, and maintain community partnerships. The Project Coordinator will also assist the Project Director/Principal Investigator with report generation and dissemination.

Provide oversight of day-to-day project operations. Ensure project staff are meeting expected productivity based on work assignment. Confirm Outreach Assistants coordinate with community partners to arrange weekly schedule of outreach events. Confirm daily notes and documentation is accurately reported. Assist the Project Director with budgetary oversight, recommendations, and expenditure tracking. Ensure compliance with university and sponsoring agency policy and procedures. Prepare administrative reports over clinical and programmatic activities.

Provide direct clinical mental health and addictions counseling services and supervision of outreach services. Provide clinical outreach, screening, brief intervention, individual counseling, group counseling, and case management services for project participants. Provide co-counseling and clinical supervision with project Addictions Counselor, Peer Support Specialist, and Outreach Assistants.

Provide oversight and management of data collection, entry, and analysis, and assist Project Director with report generation and dissemination. Ensure sponsor and project data collection, entry, and storage follows university and sponsor regulations. Work with Project Director and Project Evaluator to prepare and disseminate monthly, quarterly, and annual project reports as required by sponsor and community partners.

Develop and maintain relationships with community partners within project catchment area. Oversee scheduling with project staff and community partners. Ensure project staffing is adequate to meet the required project engagement with community partners. Develop two-way communication process with community partners to communicate and receive project related updates and feedback.

Minimum Education/Experience :

MA/MS in Counselor Education or closely related field

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

Licensure as a clinical addictions specialist or associate (LCAS/LCAS-A)
Experience providing direct service for individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders
