FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Romance Languages at Hunter College of the City University of New York invites applications for a full-time appointment at the rank of Lecturer / Doctoral Lecturer of Spanish to begin in the 2023-2024 academic year.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach four courses per semester, ranging from basic to advanced Spanish language, Spanish for heritage speakers, and literature and culture courses for minors and majors. The Department is particularly interested in candidates with demonstrable teaching experience with translation/interpretation courses. The faculty member filling this position will also participate in curricular planning and development, as well as in student advising, to complement and support the teaching component of his or her charge.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise required for Lecturer. The Ideal candidate will hold an MA (Lecturer) or a PhD (Doctoral Lecturer) in Spanish at the time of appointment. They must have a native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and professional proficiency in English. Candidates will be experienced and interested in language pedagogy, well-versed in teaching all levels of the undergraduate Spanish curriculum, and dedicated to working with students from a wide variety of socio-cultural backgrounds.
VACCINE REQUIREMENT
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
COMPENSATION
At the Lecturer level, the salary range is from $51,021 - $91,027.
At the Doctoral Lecturer level, the salary range is from $55,677 - $96,351.
