Position Summary:

The Department of Health Policy and Management (HPAM) at the College of Public Health University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in health policy and health services research at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Housed in the department, a new Ph.D. program in Health Services Research and Policy is in its final stages of approval for a program launch in the Fall of 2023. As such, the department is seeking to expand its expertise in health policy and health services research. Recruitment will be at the assistant or associate professor levels, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Priority areas of research include, but are not limited to, multidisciplinary and collaborative research regarding how social factors, financing systems, organizational structures and processes, health information technologies, and personal behaviors affect access to health care; the quality and cost of health care; health care utilization; health care management and leadership; quality metrics and measures; and the impact of federal, state, and local health policies on health and health care. We seek candidates with demonstrated achievements in these areas of research through rigorous scholarship. A commitment to graduate-level advising, mentoring, and teaching is required as the candidate will be involved in developing and teaching courses on advanced research methods, data analysis and seminar courses for the new Ph.D. program.

To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an associate professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Qualifications include a PhD or equivalent in health services research, health policy, decision sciences, economics, or closely related fields such as epidemiology and biostatistics with research interests and expertise in the organization and delivery of health services. Appointments to the Associate Professor position require strong evidence of acquiring and administering external funding (current principal investigator with existing grants is preferred).

The new faculty member must demonstrate the potential for building and maintaining a productive, extramurally funded research program; strong evidence of ability to produce and communicate research; excellence in teaching and working with students; and a commitment to cultural diversity.
