Job Description

The Department of Mathematical, Physical, and Engineering Sciences seeks applications from qualified candidates with a robust research agenda for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in mathematics. Appointment begins in Fall 2023. The specialization should complement the strengths we currently have. Excellence in teaching at all levels of the curriculum, engaging students in research, participation in grant funded projects, and publications in leading journals is expected. Contribution to improving student success in entry level mathematics courses is a high priority for the institution. The base teaching load for tenure-track faculty is 3/3. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. Service to the department, college, university, and the community is expected.

Required Education and Experience:

  • A Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. Specialization areas that complement our strengths will be considered.

  • A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics.

  • Evidence of scholarly achievement in mathematics or a closely related field.

  • Postdoctoral experience in mathematics.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent skills in interaction and communication with undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff.

  • Evidence of excellence in university teaching experience commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor.

In a letter of interest please speak to the following topics:

  • Engagement with teaching mathematics.

  • Experience with research in mathematics and a proposed agenda of scholarly inquiry.
