The Division of Enrollment Management (EM) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our Chief Operating Officer for EM Strategic Priorities position. We are seeking candidates who can contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.

The Position:

This is an on-campus position with some hybrid/remote work schedule flexibility.

The Chief Operating Officer for EM Strategic Priorities will collaborate across the Enrollment Management Division (EM) and the campus community in support of EM priorities and the University’s strategic undergraduate enrollment plan. Serves as a strategic thought leader in the enrollment management landscape and partner to the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management (VPEM) in enhancing the student experience and delivering on institutional and divisional mission, vision and values. Provide executive level support to the VPEM across new and transformational initiatives, special projects, and in the execution of the strategic enrollment plan and related priorities. Responsibilities include project oversight and management and tracking and communicating related key performance indicators across EM priorities. Coordinates UTK’s executive strategic enrollment committee, including organizing meeting agendas, notes, outcomes and related action items. Organize and lead operational priorities on behalf of EM’s Executive Leadership Team. Create and foster strong partnerships internally and externally to support the work of the Vice Provost, EM Division and University. Provide strategic oversight and execution of EM Division Wide internal communications and central outreach from the Division of Enrollment Management to UT and external stakeholders. Manage the Central Office for the Division of Enrollment Management including oversight of service efforts, budget, central staffing and human resource management, office and divisional operational needs. Supervise 2 professional staff members and student staff who support central EM. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, the Chief Operating Officer for EM Strategic Priorities serves as a member of executive leadership with access and oversight to highly confidential student and personnel issues and is expected to uphold the highest levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.



Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree

• A minimum of 5 years professional experience.

• Experience with higher education or familiarity and understanding of the higher education landscape based on experience with related organizations.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• 8 years professional experience, including demonstrated success in project management and change management, preferably in Higher Education and/or Enrollment Management.

• Experience managing high-stakes, visible projects within higher education.

• Experience leading and/or advising on change management strategies.

• Experience working closely with executive leadership.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Advanced oral and written communication skills; Aptness to manage strategic stakeholder communication and outreach efforts.

• Ability to lead new initiatives and complex projects to achieve measured outcomes.

• Team building & collaboration skills; capacity to navigate, advise and lead change management.

• Problem solving skills.

• High level of integrity and professionalism.

• Highly organized and detail orientated.                 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of enrollment management practices, including higher education, student success, student services and higher education industry as whole.

• Ability to analyze data for the purposes of measuring program effectiveness and providing return on investment (ROI) summaries.

The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 170 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, University Registrar, EM Communications, and Research & Analytics.
