The Department of Anthropology and Geography at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Anthropology. Area of specialization within the field of Anthropology is open, but the candidate must be able to teach a range of lower and upper-level courses in service to an innovative combined B.A. in Anthropology and Geography, and the minor in Anthropology. We specifically seek candidates able to teach multiple sections of an undergraduate introduction to cultural anthropology course, required upper-level anthropology courses in the B.A. program, and courses in the candidate’s area of specialization.

Candidates should hold an appropriate terminal degree in anthropology or a related discipline, or meet established alternative qualifications. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to diversity, student learning, and inclusive pedagogy. The teaching load is 10 classes over the course of a 12-month academic year, and includes limited opportunities for periodically teaching evening, weekend, study-abroad, summer and distance-learning courses. The salary range is within CUPA averages.

Candidates should hold an earned Ph.D. in anthropology or a related discipline. Candidates who are ABD may be considered, but the PhD must be complete before the position start date of August 16, 2023.
