Position Summary: The Department of Physics at Gettysburg College invites applications for a one-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor in physics beginning August 2023. Our preference is for individuals who have engaged in research-supported pedagogy centered around student learning and who foster active learning environments. The teaching load for this position will be three courses each semester, where either a lecture or laboratory section is considered to be one course. Opportunities exist to teach at the introductory and upper levels as well as to participate with students in the X-SIG Summer Research Program.

Qualifications: Candidates should have a doctorate (or be ABD) in physics, astronomy, or a closely allied field. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who are committed to and can speak to mentoring and educating a broad range of students but particularly those who are traditionally underrepresented in physics and astronomy. Teaching experience or promise of excellence in teaching is desirable. Evidence of active scholarship is valued but not required.
