The Role of Baldwin Wallace's CFO


The Vice President for Finance and Administration and CFO (VPFA-CFO) reports directly to the University president and provides strategic collaboration and contribution at the executive level. The VPFA-CFO manages a group of diverse professionals who execute wide-ranging objectives for the ongoing operations of the University. The VPFA-CFO is charged with leadership of financial operations, Dining Services, Buildings and Grounds, Payroll and Safety and Security. This role is the strategic leader for financial operations of the University and is accountable for all outcomes by ensuring all legal and regulatory compliance. The VPFA-CFO is responsible for all University budgets, accounting and financial analysis and reporting functions. This role serves as a key member of the President's Cabinet and the Executive Staff and plays a key role in institutional planning and guides the development, implementation and monitoring of BW's operating and capital budgets.

The VPFA-CFO will utilize these relationships to develop operational management processes that are transparent, efficient, and aligned with the University's core values.


Responsibilities


Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Provides executive leadership and accountability for the financial services functions of the University including finance, payroll, and accounting.

  • Lead, guide, and provide oversight of the University's fiscal affairs with the University President, the Officers, and the cabinet including financial reporting to the Board of Trustees and the State of Ohio.

  • Collaborates to manage the planning, financing and construction of all capital management projects including the acquisition and leasing of land and property rights.

  • Administers contracting relationships for the University with the support of legal counsel.

  • Manages the development of the University's annual operating budget. Provides meaningful analysis of and strategic design to ensure financial sustainability.

  • Provides leadership and guidance on dining services, ensuring that University capacity, staffing, equipment, and resources are appropriate to meet or exceed student expectations and drive retention.

  • Oversees purchasing, contract administration, and property control in response to the University's needs.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices

  • Oversees the operations of the physical plant and grounds in a manner that ensures that the campus is attractive and functional by implementing strategic renovation and beautification projects that align with an effective program of facility maintenance and repair that protects the University's assets.

  • Provides oversight of safety and security programs designed to effectively address security, safety, parking, ID, registration needs.

  • Partners with Human Resources in the management and maintenance of benefits and insurance programs.

  • Oversees the various external audits and reviews performed by external entities to ensure process efficiency and effective follow-up on findings.

  • Performs all other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications



  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and business principles, strategic planning, and budgeting procedures. Strong technical skills in finance, accounting, analysis, planning and forecasting.

  • Excellent computer technology skills, and the ability to collaborate with Information Technology Services to ensure the effectiveness of programs and processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and manage relationships at all levels of the organization and the ability to influence a variety of stakeholders.

  • Experience leading financial and administrative organizations through significant and dynamic change.

  • Commitment to diversity and multiculturalism, and the demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students in an inclusive, respectful manner.

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree or equivalent in nature and length of experience preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:



  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
