The Teacher Education emphasis prepares students to become faculty and researchers at colleges and universities, where they will help prepare the next generation of pre K-12 teachers and administrators. This emphasis is committed to familiarizing students with major developments in theories of learning and research exploring the architecture of the human mind. These research foundations will inform educational policies across subject disciplines and in a variety of educational settings. Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a highly qualified and experienced researcher and instructor. They will have experience teaching and advising in the areas of quantitative research methodology and analysis, as well as teacher education. Required qualifications:-Earned doctorate by the start of employment in teacher education, learning sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution. -Record of research and publication, consistent with rank. -Expertise and experience to successfully teach multiple graduate level courses on quantitative research methods and analysis, across one or more programs in the Attallah College of Educational Studies. -Ability to successfully mentor masters and doctoral level students in quantitative research studies and to chair dissertation committees.-Minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience in diverse grades K-12 school settings.Desired experiences/qualifications:-Evidence of seeking and securing external grant funding for research.-Expertise in multiple statistical software programs (e.g., R, SAS, STATA, SPSS).-Evidence of successful teaching and advising, including at the graduate level.-Evidence of supporting PhD students from varying professional backgrounds. -An ability to design and implement program assessment tools.-Experience using technology to enhance educational environments.-Experience serving and/or teaching in underserved communities.Tenure eligibility at time of hire will be considered for qualified associate and full rank applicants.

Responsibilities

This is a full-time, tenure-track position that requires work to be performed in the State of California and has in-person teaching responsibilities and required on-campus availability at Chapman’s Orange campus.Responsibilities include:-Engaging in a rigorous research and external grant-seeking agenda.-Teaching courses primarily related to quantitative research methods, dissertation planning, and dissertation support. -Serving as a resource to selected master’s students with quantitative-based capstone projects.-Advising and serving on dissertation and qualifying exam committees for students in the Ph.D. in Education Program.-Contributing as an integral member of the Attallah College faculty in the ongoing development, implementation, and assessment of our degree programs, particularly the Ph.D. in Education Program.-Providing academic advising and professional mentorship to students and alumni. -Performing service to the unit, college, university, profession, and wider community as expected of a tenure-track faculty member.Tenure track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure consideration and are evaluated on their research/scholarly activity, teaching, and service.
