Overview:

The Quinnipiac University Department of Journalism seeks an energetic, inspiring educator and teammate to teach innovative digital reporting and storytelling, both at the undergraduate level and in our Sports Journalism graduate program, to begin in the Fall 2023 semester.

The tenure-track, assistant professor of Journalism and Sports Journalism will be someone who specializes in teaching how to use innovative web and social tools to enhance online reporting and storytelling in both news and sports coverage, with an eye towards preparing students for jobs in modern newsrooms. The successful candidate will teach required and elective undergraduate courses, which may include Fundamentals of Digital Journalism, Sports Reporting, Advanced Digital Journalism, Journalism Capstone, and graduate journalism and sports journalism courses. They will also have the freedom and resources to develop courses around their own expertise and interests.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach six classes per academic year (3/3) with opportunities to teach in the summer

  • Perform service for the school and university

  • Formally advise students

  • Conduct research and/or partake in substantive creative/professional work as outlined in the faculty handboo

Education Requirements:

  • Master's degree in journalism or related field is required

Qualifications:

  • A least five years’ professional experience and teaching experience is required
  • Professional experience in sports journalism – preferably on digital platforms
  • Commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community
