The Warrior Community seeks a full-time faculty member for the College of Arts & Sciences. The Assistant/Associate Professor of Exercise Science will be responsible for teaching science courses that support the life sciences program, specifically Exercise Science: (a) developing and teaching courses in life sciences, including exercise-based courses or clinical-based courses, as well as other courses which support the exercise science degree program.

This is a tenure-track, 9-month position teaching in face-to-face and online course delivery. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, professional development, student development, and service to the College of Arts and Sciences.


The position includes teaching four courses per semester as assigned by the Dean, holding eight office hours per week, and advising and fostering relationships both in and out of the classroom. Additional duties include fulfilling service and professional development requirements as outlined in the tenure process, actively participating in student recruiting and retention initiatives, designing and revising program curriculum for optimal student success, delivering effective courses, practicums, field experiences, and laboratories to meet the program learning outcomes, and supporting the mission, vision, and strategic plan of Indiana Institute of Technology.

The successful candidate will work closely with other programs in the College of Arts & Sciences. This faculty position reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Master’s degree required doctorate preferred, in Biology, Exercise Science, Health Science, or a closely related field, and college-level teaching experience required. The preferred candidate will have experience teaching clinically based exercise physiology, anatomy and physiology, strength and conditioning, biomechanics, and motor learning. Experience supervising field experiences or internships and research experience in the field is also preferred. Demonstration of the ability to work with a diverse student population and demonstration of developing effective relationships with students that prepare students for academic and career success is necessary. Applicants should be able to use technology effectively in all aspects of their work, including teaching. Experience teaching with a Learning Management System, preferably Blackboard, is required; it is preferred that the experience is related to an accelerated learning program, and it is highly preferred that the candidate be a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
