Job Details

Spartanburg Methodist College invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty position in American Sign Language. The successful candidate will offer a two-semester sequence in American Sign Language that fulfills the foreign language requirement for BA students. The successful candidate will teach one to two in-person sections per semester beginning in Fall 2023. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, be familiar with best practices in pedagogy, and have experience as a teacher of American Sign Language. Contract may be renewed on a semester-by-semester basis pending enrollment, instructor availability, and student success.

Required qualifications include a master’s degree in Deaf Education, Deaf Studies, American Sign Language, Special Education (with appropriate emphasis such as deaf education), Communications (with appropriate emphasis such as deaf education), Bicultural or Bilingual Education (with appropriate emphasis such as deaf education), or a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the above disciplines.
