Tenure-track, Assistant Professor of English

The School of Arts & Humanities and Department of Liberal Arts at Mount St. Joseph University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English. The position will begin in August of 2023.

Qualifications This position is designed for a fiction writer. Candidates should have a strong background in Creative Writing: Fiction and an appropriate terminal degree such as an MFA in Creative Writing, or a Ph.D. in Creative Writing or Literature. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate core courses in writing and literature and upper-level seminars for our Major in Liberal Arts in addition to teaching courses in the craft of writing fiction. The successful candidate will also lead a co-curricular writing group. In addition, the successful candidate will receive release time to actively recruit students from area high schools to join the writing group and Liberal Arts major. A strong commitment to teaching, advising, departmental citizenship, student recruitment, and a demonstrated program of creative/scholarly activity are required. Other duties as assigned. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability and commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion.
