Job Summary:

The part-time Cook (Hourly) position reports to the Manager of Café for the preparations of food and beverages at the Seawall Cafe’ and routine cleaning. Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
The tentative work schedule 18 hrs a week:Monday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm – 6 Hours 1 Hour Lunch Break = 5 HoursTuesday 11:00 am – 3:00 pm – 4 HoursWednesday 11:00 am – 3:00 pm – 4 HoursThursday OffFriday 10:00 am – 3:00 pm – 5 HoursThe off day may change dependent on the menu or events that we have to cater.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a high school education or its equivalent. Experience in food preparation and service with quantity cooking in a state institution or commercial food service establishment preferred.

Some knowledge of methods used in quantity food preparation and cooking; in the use and care of food service equipment and appliances. Skill in the routine preparation and cooking of basic foods. Ability to read and understand, or to listen to and act upon written and oral instructions; to standardize food recipes correctly; to accept direction and supervision, must be able to establish and maintain effective work relationships. Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work. Must comply with established College policies and standards.

Physical condition sufficient to permit standing and walking for long periods of time; sufficient to lift and carry moderately heavy items. Requires constant standing, walking, and seeing. Requires frequent sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 25 – 50 pounds. Required to reach for items above your head. Requires infrequent stooping, bending, and climbing. Skills in culinary arts, which requires creativity, hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Normal restaurant facility environment.

SALARY :

$14.00 an hour

Work Hours:

Will work up to 18 hours a week.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Assist with preparation, cooking, garnishing, and clean-up of the Cafe. Responsible for all preparation, cooking, dishwashing, and clean-up of Cafe in the absence of the Assistant Manager.

3. Responsible for the routine daily cleaning with standard cleaning supplies of all appliances, shelving, utensils, counters, freezers, and refrigerators.

4. Assist the Assistant Manager with receiving of all food, beverages, and deliveries, as well as proper storage, labeling, rotation, and cleaning of freezers and refrigerators.
