The Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver is an interdisciplinary professional school of international studies that prepares students for careers in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Position Summary

The Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver seeks an Adjunct Professor(s) to teach one or more sections of Project Management in our Graduate Program in International Studies in the Spring Quarter (late March to mid-June) and/or the Fall Quarter (mid-September to mid-November) of 2023. The course is primarily focused on our Development and Human Rights Degree students who will on graduation find themselves the heads of project implementation and/or execution teams. The course is followed by courses on Project Evaluation (M&E) and need not cover that material but would focus on practical organizational, engagement, communication, and leadership challenges faced in designing and executing projects with and on behalf of the range of logical stakeholders from funders to beneficiaries. 

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

The Adjunct Professor position is a contract (non-benefited) position centered around the specific course(s) in question.  The adjunct professor is required to build the course in question in terms of material, schedule, and assignments to be evaluated and articulate that via a course syllabus available one week prior to the start of class, execute the required number of course sessions or equivalent contact hours, make themselves available for supporting consultations with students (“office hours”) at a minimum of 2 hours per course per week, and provide feedback and evaluation (grading) of all course assignments/activities and an overall course grade within the allocated quarter.

Required Qualifications

  • MA/MS in a relevant field or professional background
  • Five years of professional engagement with project management/design in a social policy and/or development focused area. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten plus years of experience in project management/design as well as documented successful teaching/training experience, ideally at the graduate or professional level.
  • Preference will also be given to candidates who can demonstrate experience in inclusive teaching and/or working with diverse students and/or communities.

Course Rate

The salary range is $5400 to $7456 per class/section depending on qualifications.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
