Job Summary
The Assistant Director (AD) is a leadership position in the Career and Professional Development office, providing supervision for three (3) full time Career and Professional Development Advisors (professional staff). Additionally, the AD provides career/professional development guidance and support to students enrolled/accepted into graduate, professional and doctoral programs in the health professions arena. Reporting to the Director of Career and Professional Development, the AD also serves as primary administrator of career services' technology systems and provides leadership and assistance in web-based technology, data collection, management, and reporting.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

General Responsibilities
• Assists students in clarifying academic and career goals through individual career counseling, and the administration/interpretation of career and personality inventories
• Participates in the design and delivery of career-related workshops, programs, and panels
• Helps students develop and refine resume writing, interviewing, job-search, and professional development skills
• Establishes positive relationships and administers the planning and promotion of the Career and Professional • Development office to students, alumni, faculty, and employers through wide array of marketing efforts
• Assists with refinements of marketing materials, communication plans, office protocols, and benchmarks
• Serves as liaison to student groups, clubs, and organizations

Managerial/Leadership Responsibilities
• Manages full time professional staff, including coordinating daily office operations, project management, staff training, mentoring, and performance evaluations:
• Meets with academic department chairs, Deans, and other student support areas to develop and implement initiatives involving the career and professional development of students in and out of the classroom
• Provides training to professional and student staff on effective use of educational and administrative information systems
• Assists staff in design of database management systems, including policies and procedures for data collection and management
• Advises the Director in the selection process for acquisition of career-related software and department technology-related issues
• Develops and/or improves mechanisms for tracking and reporting data/statistics, for both internal and external audiences
• Serves on various college committees as assigned
• Evening and weekend attendance at college functions as required

Other
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Career and Professional Development

Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Higher Education Administration or closely related field with two years experience in career development and/or job-search advisement

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Navigate, and Banner applications
Experience with career development technology; statistical analysts of data for reporting/benchmarks; knowledge of survey development
Experience with strategic planning and experience in the management and development of employees

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
