POSITION: Assistant Professor of Practice in Public Health
Stetson University seeks an Assistant Professor of Practice in Public Health to begin in August 2023. This is a renewable full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track position.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or Dr. P.H. in public health or a closely related field by the time of appointment, with teaching and research interests in public health. For those with terminal degrees in closely related fields, an M.P.H. is required. As an institution in the liberal arts tradition, we are interested in attracting outstanding teacher-scholars who support undergraduate students in investigating critical issues. We seek an individual with demonstrated excellence in teaching and advising undergraduate public health students. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience or interest in engaging students from diverse backgrounds. Professional experience and a successful record of peer-reviewed publications in the field of public health are highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be expected to advise students and teach four courses per semester, including introduction to public health, health planning and evaluation, public health statistics, and senior research thesis. The successful candidate will also have an opportunity to teach courses in their areas of expertise.
The Public Health program offers major and minor degrees in public health. Our focus is exclusively on undergraduate students who desire rigorous and interdisciplinary training within the context of a liberal arts education.
THE COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES:
Stetson’s College of Arts and Sciences (www.stetson.edu/portal/artsci/) is the largest and most diverse of the University’s colleges and schools; it includes the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, education, and creative arts. With nineteen academic departments and nine interdisciplinary programs, the College is the liberal arts core of the University. DeLand is a picturesque residential community of 32,000 located 20 miles west of Daytona Beach and 35 miles northeast of Orlando. The area offers extensive cultural as well as recreational activities.
SALARY: Salary is competitive.
