Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in chemistry beginning fall 2023.  The successful candidate will be nominated for designation as a Clare Boothe Luce Professor of Chemistry. Luce appointments offer qualified candidates exceptional support in teaching and scholarship directly related to the faculty member’s field.

Trinity is one of the nation’s historic women’s colleges, now also a Predominantly Black and Hispanic Serving Institution. Approximately 900 women enroll in the College of Arts & Sciences, Trinity’s full-time undergraduate program. Trinity has received significant support to develop expertise in pedagogy that reflects the practice of Inclusive Excellence in the sciences and other disciplines, and faculty candidates should be able to demonstrate familiarity with Inclusive Excellence principles and pedagogy.

The Chemistry program seeks outstanding candidates having interest and expertise in teaching organic chemistry and plans for conducting research with undergraduate students. The position will include working with faculty from multiple disciplines, to support programs within the undergraduate women’s college, the College of Arts and Sciences. Responsibilities also include advising and mentoring students and contributing towards a curriculum aimed to foster inclusive excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or a related field, with expertise in organic chemistry. A successful candidate will have experience mentoring students and teaching with inclusive and high impact practices.

Official transcripts for all degrees earned, sample course syllabi, course evaluations and/or other evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three professional references will be needed if the candidate is invited to campus for an interview.  Finalists will be invited to campus for an interview and teaching demonstration.
