Position Description

Stark State College is looking for part-time adjuncts to teach in our Biology Department.

The position could include teaching any class in the biology department including anatomy and physiology, microbiology, environmental or general biology. Specifically looking for individuals willing to teach College Credit Plus and/or Dual Enrollment classes to high school students at a local high school or our Downtown Canton location.

Position Duties

Prepare and deliver day, evening, weekend, and web-based courses in any of the following biology courses: anatomy and physiology (introductory and cadaver-lab based), microbiology, medical terminology, general biology, and environmental science.

Teach at any of our campus locations including Downtown Canton (Dual Enrollment), local high school (College Credit Plus), Akron, or North Canton.

Participate in mandatory college activities that support the mission of the department and the college.

Must have the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

Additional responsibilities include preparation of instructional materials, assessing student performance, including electronic submission of never attends, early alert, mid-term grades and final grades by the required dates.

Education, Experience and Licensure/Certification Requirements

A master’s degree in Biology, or a directly related field is required.

College level teaching experience at a community college and experience teaching high school students is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required

Must have excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a team focused and student centered environment is essential.

Ability to use technology that includes MS Office programs and Internet delivered materials is required.

Enthusiasm for teaching and continuous professional development is highly valued.
