Job Description:


  • Teach a 1-credit course, APEX 1-4, assigned at the discretion of the APEX team. The AIC Plan for Excellence (APEX) Program is a series of academic courses (one taken each academic year) and out of classroom experiences that are intended to enhance and strengthen a student's AIC experience. APEX is intended to help develop and achieve their educational, professional, and personal goals. There are four major learning goals for this program: Intellectual Development and Lifelong Learning, Personal Growth, Social and Cultural Competency, and Career and Professional Development.

  • Provide relevant and timely feedback on student assignments, including attendance and participation

  • Be available to meet with students, as needed, before or after class time or at other scheduled times throughout the week.

  • Regularly check AIC email for timely correspondence with Director/Associate Director/Student Success Coordinator, students and other members of the AIC community.



Requirements:


  • Required Degree(s): Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. teaching, higher education, psychology)

  • Preferred Degree(s): Master's degree in a related field.(e.g. teaching, higher education, psychology)


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Strong commitment to high-quality instruction in a diverse, student-centered environment and the ability to work with students with various learning styles and backgrounds
  • Interest in active and collaborative learning and enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Canvas, and the instructional use of technology to teach traditional, hybrid or on-line courses, as needed

  • Ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students and faculty

  • Expertise that complements and expands that of the department

Work Schedule:


This is a part-time, non-benefitted adjunct position scheduled for the spring 2023 semester with hours flexible to the needs of the department. The courses are 50 minutes in length and are held on campus.
