Full-time Faculty Positions

Full-time faculty positions will be posted on a per-opening basis. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Part-time Faculty Positions

DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit. All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

The School of Design within the Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media at DePaul University invites applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in September 2023. Job responsibilities include teaching, conducting research or creative activity, and providing service to the School of Design and the broader institution. The successful candidate will be appointed as a faculty member in the School of Design and will have teaching responsibilities in the Digital Communication and Media Arts, Experience Design, and Human Centered Design graduate programs, and will work in an interdisciplinary environment with the College of Communication. As we continue to develop our graduate program offerings, we are especially interested in applicants who have the experience and motivation to build out new aspects of our degree programs.

Located in the heart of Chicago, the School of Design prides itself on nurturing a diverse body of students to become visionary designers who will become leaders in their fields. The School of Design uniquely comprises a range of design disciplines (graphic, game, UX, industrial) working closely alongside one another. Our faculty builds bridges within and outside DePaul and engages in community outreach that reflects DePaul's Vincentian Mission. Faculty in the School of Design are given many forms of support to develop their careers. Faculty have access to cutting-edge equipment and lab spaces, including two well-equipped makerspaces; several VR and AR production spaces; a print lab; recording, film, stop-motion animation, and motion-capture studios. The position features well-paid compensation and support for exhibiting and presenting work at festivals, galleries, museums, and conferences, and opportunities to work with graduate and PhD research assistants. Colleagues in the School of Design program are dedicated to mutual success and growth, and we are interested in someone who will add new dimensions to our programs.

Required Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates with skills and expertise in one or more of the following areas: human centered design, storytelling across platforms, emerging technologies. Qualified candidates should have a terminal degree (PhD, MFA, MDes, or equivalent) in a related field. A proven commitment to quality teaching, an active record of creative practice and scholarly work, and evidence of working collaboratively are required. Applicants must be able to teach both theoretical and practical hands-on courses and work with faculty on building curriculum and leading school-wide initiatives. Ideal candidates will have experience supervising student research.

We are especially interested in candidates whose work and interests align with DePaul’s Vincentian mission which calls on the university to address the great questions of our day, promoting peaceful, just, and equitable solutions to social and environmental challenges.
