Desktop Support Technician

Overview:

Applications are being accepted for a full-time Desktop Support Technician at Moraine Park Technical College, West Bend Campus.  This position provides technical support to customers for District-supported computer hardware and software.  This position may be asked to provide support at various sites within the Moraine Park District to include campus, regional centers and area prisons.

Summary of Work Schedule-Academic: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Total Hours/Week-Academic: 37.5

Summary of Work Schedule-Summer: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Total Hours/Week-Summer: 34

Weeks per year: 52

Hiring range: $24.10 - $28.36

Beginning: Immediately

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain high quality desktop images (physical and virtual) to be utilized by staff and students.
2. Package software for inclusion in virtual desktops used throughout the College.
3. Create development, deployment and troubleshooting efficiencies by utilizing tools provided by the College.
4. Provide second level technical support for user endpoint hardware and software and related peripheral equipment.
5. Resolve assigned help desk tickets in a timely manner. 
6. Work with End User Support Technicians to exchange technical information regarding new images, software, and intricacies for desktop images as well as understanding technical challenges encountered by end users and work to resolve.
7. Keep documentation current for desktop images and computers.
8. Research new technologies and make recommendations to department management.  
9. Provide support to technology throughout the College as needed.  Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

1. Associate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.  Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred.
2. Two years of related experience to include Windows and Macintosh desktop management experience. 
3. Any combination of equivalent training and experience which provides desired knowledge, skills and abilities. 
4. Highly skilled in ability to install, configure and support Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems, Microsoft virtual desktops, Apple computers and the Mac OSX.  
5. Experience in working with virtual desktop applications, VMWare App volumes preferred.
6. Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
7. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple projects effectively and work independently.  
8. Must be able to work well in a team environment.   
9. Ability to install and provide technical support for workstations and network hardware and software.
10. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
11. Ability to provide excellent customer service by demonstrating a customer-centric focus.
12. Ability to travel to offsite training and seminars in order to maintain the necessary technical skills.
13. Ability to lift 55 lbs.
14. Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
