Position Description

This is a part-time teaching position in the Massage Therapy Program. Instruction may include face-to-face and/or online teaching formats, in lecture or labs, held during the day, evening, and/or weekends.

Position Duties

Instruction in traditional and non-traditional course modalities; preparation of instructional materials and lesson plans; assessment of student performance; electronic submission of Attendance Reports, Early Alerts, Mid Term Grades, and Final Grades by the required dates; ability to work with different learning styles; ability to work effectively with a diverse student population; participation in faculty meetings.

Responsibilities may include didactic teaching, laboratory instruction, assessment of student learning, and competency testing. Job location at SSC main campus.

Education, Experience and Licensure/Certification Requirements

Requires a minimum of an Associate's degree in Massage Therapy. A Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a health profession is preferred.

Must be currently licensed as Massage Therapist by State Medical Board of Ohio for a minimum of 3 years.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required

Must have current knowledge of the massage therapy discipline including current trends and direction of profession, clinical knowledge in interventions, procedures, and treatments, and must have thorough knowledge of critical care as it relates to massage therapy.

Must be able to effectively communicate with diverse student populations, must have strong organizational skills. Must have demonstrated ability of critical thinking and decision-making. Competency in using computers and basic software programs. Diverse clinical background is preferred. Prior teaching in discipline is also preferred.
