POSITION: DIRECTOR OF MCNAIR SCHOLARS PROGRAM
DEPARTMENT: UNIVERSITY COLLEGE AND STUDENT SUCCESS
DIVISION: ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Interim Dean of University College and Student Success the Director of the McNair Scholars Program is responsible for the administration and management of the federally funded TRIO Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program. The Director is responsible for allocating and managing resources and objectives of the Program, for efficient fiscal management, staff hiring, planning, coordination, and implementation of the funded grant proposal.
Qualifications: A master’s degree in education, counseling and guidance, educational administration, student personnel services, or a related field. Three to five years of experience designing, managing or implementing TRIO programs or similar projects required. Graduate level research experience. Knowledge of budget planning. At least five years supervisory and/or training experience. Program development and implementation skills. Organizational leadership. Strong oral and written communication. Demonstrated ability to work with grant-eligible students. Understanding of graduate education. Knowledge of assessment and evaluation. Previous experience overcoming academic and economic barriers to success is helpful.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in report writing and administering federally funded programs; computer literacy using databases and word processing programs; experience or knowledge of problems facing low income, first generation and students with disabilities; the ability to communicate and work effectively with program staff, University faculty, staff and administration and community agencies; strong analytical and communication skills, sound professional judgement, initiative and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals including students, faculty, staff and the general public. Must be organized and an effective time manager with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.
