General Summary

We seek a colleague to join us in our commitment to educate PK–12 leaders to realize the democratic ideal through public education.

The Call: Building on our long history of excellence in leadership education, the Department of Educational Administration and Foundations (EAF) in the College of Education at Illinois State University (ISU) seeks an experienced, highly motivated, culturally responsive, and effective PK–12 leader to join us in the implementation of two graduate programs in PK–12 leadership—the Superintendency and the Doctorate for Practitioners. EAF is a long-standing member of the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED), the International Council of Professors of Education Administration (ICPEA), and the University Council for Education Administration (UCEA), all of which speak to the vision and mission of our department.

Responsibilities: The primary responsibility for the position will be to teach courses in PK–12 leadership and administration to master’s and doctoral students. Faculty members teach on- and off-campus classes, as well as online. Teaching responsibilities include teaching adult learners, advising doctoral students, serving on dissertation committees, clinical supervision, and collaborative curriculum implementation and development. In addition, a commitment to a research agenda resulting in presentations and publications is expected. Finally, the candidate must be willing to engage in service and assume leadership roles in the department, college, university, state, and the PK–12 profession. Applicants must have an active teaching and research agenda commensurate with rank as well as demonstrate the potential to secure external funding.

Required Qualifications

1. An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Educational Leadership or a related discipline prior to August 16, 2023
2. PK-12 leadership experience working effectively with racially, ethnically, linguistically, and economically diverse students and families
3. Successful candidates must be committed to working collegially with diverse faculty, students, staff, and community members
4. A demonstrated active engagement in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion
5. A specialization in one or more of the following: equitable schooling, collaborative instructional leadership, school-community collaboration, or social justice-focused leadership
6. A demonstrated interest and success in collaborating with public schools and districts, diverse community stakeholders, and government agencies
7. A demonstrated potential (Assistant Professor) or excellence (Associate Professor) in teaching, research, and service
8. State law mandates demonstrable proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position
