Job Description Summary
As an Employment Connections Advisor you will be responsible for creating, delivering, and enhancing career-related services being provided for FVTC Students/alumni, employer/education partners, and internal staff/faculty. These services include one-on-one/ group employment advising sessions, group presentations, and assisting with the successful delivery of other events being hosted or promoted by FVTC Employment Services. The Employment Advisor will also be required to remain abreast of workforce trends and industry changes to provide customers with the necessary skills and strategies to assist with achieving realistic long-term and short-term career and/or educational goals.

Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Engage with students through various mediums on topics that affect career opportunities and advancement, including career exploration, job search strategies, internship identification, career research resume/cover letter development, and interview/networking skills.
  • Develop and lead workshops, events, career symposiums, and class presentations addressing areas such as professionalism, leadership, career exploration, salary negotiation, and strategic decision-making that can be incorporated in both academic and co-curricular settings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with companies, organizations, recruiting staff, and industry professionals (including alumni) relating to career opportunities for students, alumni, and community members.
  • Frequently communicate with faculty to incorporate career activities into their classes.
  • Strengthen and maintain faculty relationships through collaboration to maximize the students' experience in acquiring knowledge and skills for career readiness.
  • Collaborate with management to monitor, track, present, and collect data regarding student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain involvement with business/industry/community through marketing and recruitment efforts, Handshake, and professional associations and organizations.
  • Create and curate content for students related to current career topics. Maintain content libraries and assist in promoting content and information via social media and other channels
  • Participate in professional development activities that provide continually updated knowledge and skills related to career and professional development.
  • Provide guidance and direction for adjunct employment advisors to assist with training, scheduling, and linkages to employers.
  • When requested by an instructional department, plan, prepare, and deliver instruction and facilitate the learning of students who are preparing to enter the work world. This learning involves all activities that prepare students for employment: mindset, employability skills, resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing, networking, job-keeping skills, and other skills as needed to obtain and maintain employment.
  • Assist the Employment Connections team with other office duties to ensure uninterrupted access to employment and career services.

QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related and appropriate field, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience in employment/career services including developing and delivering employment curriculum.
  • Teaching or training experience is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and make decisions in a fast-paced and changing work environment
  • Excellent presentation skills along with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of career development processes and current career trends
  • Experience with employer engagement and outreach
  • Experience in generating content, managing social media, video editing (Preferred), and/or administering learning management technology
  • Ability to work days or evenings and ability to travel within the FVTC district.

Additional Information

Pay: $60,800.00 - $82,900.00 per year.

Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data. Note: Internal applicants' wage will be based upon the applicable compensation structure.
