Position's Functional Title:Librarian - Professor for Psychology and Counseling - Open Rank
Position Summary:The successful candidate will work closely with the Psychology and Counseling faculty to expand and develop holdings (physical and electronic) that will support the current and future programs in the Division of Psychology and Counseling. They will also create training modules in research and writing to support skill development in these areas and will teach from these modules as needed.
A new library building is currently the number one priority in the recently approved facilities Master Plan for the University. In the meantime, the successful candidate will assist in our plans to develop a separate College of Education Library within the current physical layout of the library.
We are looking for visionary, enthusiastic, and dedicated candidates who will commit to the library’s mission of, “Enhancing Education Through Research.” This is a tenure-track position, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to serve on various faculty committees across the campus.
The exceptionally beautiful campus is conveniently located within easy reach by road and rail to Chicago and surrounding communities that have a wealth of cultural and natural attractions.
- MLIS from an ALA Accredited University.
- MA or Ph.D. in Psychology or Counseling or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Willing to invest in a collaborative, team-based research approach within the Division of Psychology and Counseling and the College of Education
- Academic experiences and interests with culturally diverse groups
- Ability to speak, read, and/or write in Spanish or Arabic
- Documented record of an ability to make intellectual contributions through scholarly publications and/or presentations
- Experience with dissertation research and publication
- Knowledge of APA 7th edition
- Experience serving as an editorial board member, reviewer, co-editor, or editor in the field of psychology and/or counseling
- Active involvement in the counseling or psychology profession, as evidenced by sustained memberships in professional counseling organizations, professional development, and activities
- Familiarity with technological and online resources for classroom and clinical training
