The George Mason University, Facilities Management Department, is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for a Energy Engineer position. Responsibilities:

The Energy Engineer will provide technical support for project design and implementation, and optimize operations and energy use of energy systems and equipment to achieve energy and cost savings. The Energy Engineer works with facility managers to implement effective and innovative energy conservation measures and demand-side management strategies in buildings and facilities. The Energy Engineer also conducts energy assessments and site investigations, monitors and manages construction activities related to systems and equipment, interprets engineering documents, and drafts technical reports.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and principles; Knowledge of ASHRAE standards; Demonstrated knowledge of building automation systems (Siemens); Demonstrated knowledge of energy management and accounting systems (EnergyCap); Ability to perform technical analysis; Ability to verbally communicate technical and nontechnical information to various stakeholders; Ability to manage time independently and meet schedules and deadlines; Ability to identify high-impact energy conservation measures and manager energy efficiency projects. Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator’s license that meets all of GMU’s requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason’s Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver’s licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), and/or Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) preferred.
