Provide technical leadership and support to the Enterprise Systems databases and Linux server. Configuration enterprise database and systems, including ERP Banner. As a Linux System Administrator, key responsibilities include the provision, deployment, security, upgrading, and resource management of Oracle Enterprise Linux application servers.
The Enterprise Systems Team within Emerson College's IT area is looking for a new key member!
Looking for someone to provide technical leadership and support to the Enterprise Systems databases and provides Linux server management.
- ERP Banner and components such as Banner 9 Admin Pages, Banner 9 Applications, AppNavigator, Banner Security Manager, Elucian Solution Manager and SSB 8
- ODS, DegreeWorks, BDMS, Automic, CBORD and EMS systems. This includes ongoing database and server maintenance, backup, upgrades, troubleshooting, performance and security patching.
- Oracle Enterprise Linux application servers
- Apache/Tomcat, A10 Load Balancer, Ethos, EIS and SSO under the ERP environment
Serve as primary contact for Enterprise Systems databases and Linux servers’ security, technical platform, configuration and support.
Configure, maintain, migrate, and back-up the college’s key applications, including Banner ERP and components such as Banner 9 Admin Pages, Application Navigator, Banner 9 Applications, SSB 8, Banner Security Management, and Ellucian Solution Manager (ESM)
Support the Banner Auxiliary systems including ODS, DegreeWorks, BDMS/Xtender, Automic, CBORD, and EMS. This includes managing ongoing database and server maintenance, backup, upgrades, performance tuning and troubleshooting, and applying security patches and 3rd party system integrations required by arising projects
Act as the Primary administrator for provision, deployment, security, upgrading, and resource management of the Oracle Enterprise Linux Tomcat application servers, file systems, server retirement, as well as support of other members of IT
Serve as the primary resource and support A10 Load Balancer, Ethos Identify Manager, SSO, SSL certificates within the ERP supported environment
Lead Oracle database 19C upgrade and migrate onto Banner 9
Serve as the primary administrator for Banner server-based disaster recovery and backup
Serve as the primary administrator for IaaS servers, applications, and migrations, as well as the on-premises ESX environment support
As it develops, act as the primary administrator and strategist for cloud migrations and cloud infrastructure
Perform scheduled system and database upgrades and respond to emergencies/outages outside of business hours
Develop the DR Strategy and perform load test practices to ensure Banner performance and Business Continuity
Be responsible for mapping and documenting operational procedures, server inventory, and system dependencies
Develop and manage change through change management, documentation, and knowledge sharing related to enterprise systems and security management
Maintain awareness of technical trends and releases with Oracle and Banner regarding security patches, releases, and technological paradigm shift. Actively participate in Oracle and Banner discussion forum and support line to keep information in close context
Perform other duties as assigned
Strong Oracle technology including Oracle 19C, Data Guard, monitoring and performance tuning, database backup and restore
Experience with SQL server database management, server provisioning and configuration
Strong Linux, Tomcat, VM, OS administration and scripting skills
Expert knowledge on Banner 9 Admin Page, Banner 9 applications deployment and technology, Tomcat, BEP and A10 load balancer
Experience with Banner ODS, Degree Works, GIT, ESM, BDMS and Automic configuration, upgrade and support
Solid understanding of Cloud technologies and industry-leading multi-tenant Cloud platforms relating to data services, Dev Ops, Docker technology, database management and service deployment
Familiar with Ethos Platform including Ethos Integration, Ethos API and Duo SSO integration in the Ellucian Banner platform
Ability to research independently and apply complex technical concept to enterprise platform
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Strong personal organization and communication skills with the ability to describe and convey technical processes to non-technical users
Be highly motivated in a fast-paced environment with multi-tasking, time management, response to services and tickets, and commitment to success
Oracle 19C and SQL database certification
Ellucian Banner 9, Degree Works, ODS, BDMS and Appxtender experience
Linux and load balancer training
SAML, SSO Manager and Ethos configuration experience
Web Load script and test experience
Higher Ed experience in Ellucian Banner environment
Strong project management skills with an ability to focus on the big picture, but also attention to details
Project management skills, ability to develop solid project plans, cut-over plans and fail-over plans
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related fields or an equivalent experience
7+ years of experience working as database administrator and/or enterprise systems administrator
- This position shows a salary range, but the College has set aside further compensation based upon the highly-specific technical skills required to successfully perform this position.
- Emerson College considers Full-Time to be 36.25 hours vs. the federal requirement of 40 hours.

Starting salary of the position will be $110,000 - $120,000 commensurate with experience.
Grade of Position: S-23-12EScheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
