Job Details
Position Summary:
The Cashier:
- Delivers outstanding customer service.
- Handles daily tender and POS operations, including ID card transactions.
- Provides support to the retail operation, including setup, maintaining supplies and products, and assisting in cleanup and closedown.
- Efficiently and accurately monitors all incoming orders via GrubHub, preparing these orders, including making hand-crafted quality beverages, packing other items for orders, and notifying guests when their order is ready.
This is a part-time 24-hour, 30-week position.
Supervision:
This position reports to the Manager of Towers Marketplace.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding customer service to students, staff, faculty, and guests.
- Greet guests with a warm, friendly demeanor.
- Fulfill customer orders via Grubhub: receive orders; complete orders accurately to customer specification, and with high speed of service rate; package orders; identify ready orders for customers and ensure their receipt of order.
- Operate a cash register (or equivalent), handle cash, card, and ID payments, making change and issuing receipts or tickets to guests.
- Prepare hot and cold beverages according to recipes and customer specifications with swiftness and accuracy.
- Model accurate, safe, efficient, and pleasant performance expectations for student and temporary staff.
- Maintain knowledge of all menu offerings, including ingredients, preparations, and allergens.
- Comply with HACCP regulations and procedures.
- Set up serving stations with all required menu items, service utensils, food and beverage containers, utensils, condiments, and items for cleaning and sanitizing.
- Maintain clean and sanitized workstations, cleaning as necessary and when required by standard operating procedures.
- Assist guests with special requests.
- Communicate often, clearly, and professionally with co-works and management.
- Assist with the inventory, stocking, and requisitions as needed.
- Learn and adhere to all food preparation guidelines established by the culinary leadership team for Ithaca College Dining Services.
- Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and cultivate an inclusive, diverse, and respectful Ithaca College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students, and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and six months previous experience working in a food service operation or other relevant setting.
- Excellent customer service aptitude.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service while working effectively and respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, overtime, and some holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional education and barista/cashier experience preferred.
- ServeSafe Certification.
- Working knowledge of food preparation procedures and equipment, proper sanitation, and HACCP procedures.
Work Environment:
The Cashier completes work within an accessible, safe, indoor, and occasional outdoor environment. Long periods of walking, standing, bending, and carrying moderately heavy items (up to 50 pounds) may be necessary. Employees will be issued and/or required to wear slip-resistant shoes, cut gloves, and operate kitchen equipment.
