Job OverviewThe Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Cincinnati seeks to recruit an innovative investigator at the Assistant or Associate Professor level focusing on a mechanistic understanding of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and/or fatty liver disease. Programs that touch on the following areas will be advantageous: lipoprotein structural biology (particularly via use of cryo-EM), lipoprotein metabolism, intracellular lipid metabolism in the liver and vascular wall, lipid/lipoprotein inducers/inhibitors of systemic inflammation, lipid interactions with the immune system, and the role of lipids in development and brain function. The successful candidate will join a highly productive and internationally recognized group of researchers focused on lipid biology.

Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should document a strong training experience and interest in areas related to lipid biology evidenced by a strong publication record. The successful candidate will demonstrate ample promise of continued success as an independent scientist, including clear scientific plans and preliminary data aimed at attracting research funding. Individuals with portable grants, such as K-awards and other career development grants, are welcome but this is not an a priori requirement. Those wishing to join at the Associate Professor level must demonstrate a solid record of attracting extramural funding, service and visibility within his/her/their field, and mentorship of graduate students and post-docs. We are looking for collegial scientists who work well with others and are highly creative and collaborative. Applicants must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at UC. The appropriate candidate will be recruited at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor based on qualifications.

Minimum RequirementsApplicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree (or equivalent) and at least two years of relevant postdoctoral or residency experience.
